pause

GENTLE START · PLAIN ANSWERS

Are stretch breaks OK if I’m stiff or a complete beginner?

Yes, provided the movements stay gentle and within your comfort. Pause has no flexibility targets, no “level up” and no positions to achieve: each hold is short, every movement has a seated route, and you can skip or end at any point. If you have persistent pain, an injury or a condition that affects movement, ask a qualified clinician which movements suit you before you start.

Move within your comfort, not to a target

The in-session rule is simple: move gently, breathe normally, stop if it hurts. A stretch should feel like a mild, comfortable sensation, never a strain. Hold times in Pause are short starting points, not something to endure.

What beginners complain about elsewhere

Reviews of stretching apps repeatedly say “the beginner level is not beginner,” “no modifications for older bodies” or “it moves on before I can get into position.” Pause answers those with a five-second get-ready before every movement, seated versions throughout, and a pause button that waits as long as you do.

When a break is not the right answer

A short movement break is general wellness, not treatment. It does not replace medical advice, a proper workstation or broader physical activity. Persistent symptoms deserve a proper assessment.

Common questions

Can I do only one movement?

Yes. Choose a single stretch from the library instead of a routine. One comfortable movement counts as a break.

Is there a beginner programme to follow?

No. Pause has no programme, days or levels. Every break stands on its own, so there is nothing to fall behind on.
