Office mobility: make space for comfortable movement
Office mobility starts with making room to move comfortably during work. A stretch holds a position for a short time; a movement break takes you through an easy motion. You can choose either without testing how far you can reach.

Choose comfortable motion over a bigger range
Move slowly enough to notice how a movement feels. You do not need to reach an extreme position or match somebody else. Keep your shoulders relaxed and breathe normally. If a movement is uncomfortable, stop and choose something suitable rather than forcing a deeper range.
Separate setup from movement
Check the chair, floor and nearby furniture before starting. A stable seated position is useful when space is limited. If standing or walking is accessible to you, leave enough room to move without leaning on unstable furniture. Close your laptop or set it aside if it distracts you.
Vary the type of break
After a long typing task, a gentle shoulder movement may be an easy choice. Between meetings, an uncomplicated walk may fit better. You do not have to use the same routine each time. A breathing break is another option when deliberate movement is not what you want right now.
Let the break stay personal
These options are not a mobility assessment or a way to diagnose stiffness. A movement that feels easy for one person may not suit another. If you have a specific limitation, new symptoms or persistent pain, ask for individual guidance before choosing exercises around it.

Common questions
Is mobility the same as stretching?
Here, stretching means a gentle held position, while mobility refers to moving comfortably through a range. A workday break can include either.
Do I need to stand up?
No. Choose the seated options when they suit you. Walking is optional, and there is no requirement to complete every example.
