Is there a stretching app that explains each stretch?
Yes. Pause explains every stretch and movement in three written steps you can read at your own pace: how to settle in, what the movement actually is, and what to do when the timer ends. A five-second get-ready countdown runs before each movement so you are never reading and stretching at the same time.

Why written steps instead of a picture and a clock
A frequent complaint about stretching apps is “a picture of a stretch and a countdown, no guidance on how to do it.” Pause was built the other way round: the instruction comes first, the timer follows. Each movement also carries a short safety cue and a comfort limit.
Both sides, every time
For any movement done one side at a time, Pause gives each side its own labelled step and its own timer, then tells you to release slowly before the other side. Nothing skips ahead while you are still holding.
Read it again, or skip it
You can pause the session, skip a movement or end the break at any moment without any failure message. The written guide stays on screen for as long as you need it.
Common questions
Does Pause use video?
No. Pause uses written guides with a companion illustration, not instructional video. There is nothing to buffer and nothing to fail to load.
Is there a voice reading the steps?
The guides are written, not narrated. You read them at your own pace.
Where do the movements come from?
Each movement links to public guidance from organisations such as Mayo Clinic, the NHS and CCOHS. Those organisations do not endorse Pause, and Pause’s routines have not been clinically validated.
