REMINDERS · PLAIN ANSWERS
Do Pause reminders work when the app is closed?
Yes. Pause hands your reminder schedule to iOS as local notifications, so reminders arrive during your chosen working hours whether Pause is open, in the background or closed. You do not need to keep the app running, and the schedule does not depend on an internet connection.

How the schedule is built
You choose working days, working hours and an interval of 45, 60 or 90 minutes. The first reminder comes one interval after your workday starts, and the last one falls before your workday ends. With the default nine-to-five weekday schedule and an hourly interval, that is a reminder at ten, eleven, noon and so on through four o’clock.
Why reminder apps seem to stop working
A common complaint about break reminder apps is that reminders quietly stop after a few days. Some apps only fire while they are open; others rely on a server. Pause schedules its reminders on the phone itself, up to the iOS limit, and reschedules them when you save changes.
What can still stop a reminder
iOS always has the final say. A Focus mode that silences the app, notifications turned off for Pause in Settings, or Reminders switched off inside Pause will stop them. Pause never bypasses Focus and never sets a badge count.
Common questions
Do I need to open Pause every day for reminders to keep coming?
No. Once saved, the schedule repeats weekly on the phone. Opening the app is only needed to change it.
Will reminders come at the weekend?
Only if you include weekend days in your working days. The default schedule is weekdays only.
Can I turn them off quickly?
Yes. Reminders Off in Settings cancels every pending reminder at once.
