REMINDERS · PLAIN ANSWERS
Why didn’t my Pause reminder arrive?
The usual reasons are a Focus mode that is silencing Pause, notifications turned off for Pause in iPhone Settings, a reminder schedule that was changed but not saved, or a reminder that did arrive but quietly, because Pause reminders are silent by default. Check those four things in that order and the reminder is usually back.

Pause reminders are quiet on purpose
Pause delivers reminders as quiet notifications that respect your Focus settings and never bypass Do Not Disturb. That is a deliberate product rule: a break should be an invitation, not an alarm. It also means a reminder can pass unnoticed if your phone is face down or in a bag.
Check iPhone Settings for Pause
Open Settings, scroll to Pause and tap Notifications. Allow Notifications needs to be on. If you use Focus modes during work, open the Focus and check whether Pause is allowed to notify you while it is active.
Check the schedule inside Pause
Open Workday reminders from Home or Settings. Confirm the working days, the hours and the interval, then tap Save reminders. A changed schedule takes effect only after saving. Remember that the first reminder arrives one full interval after your start time, so a nine o’clock start with a 60-minute interval means the first reminder is at ten.
Common questions
Can I make reminders louder?
Pause does not add its own alert sound. Your iPhone notification and Focus settings control how any Pause notification is presented.
I got reminders yesterday but not today.
Check whether a Focus mode is active today, or whether today is outside your chosen working days.
Does Pause need Background App Refresh?
No. Reminders are scheduled local notifications and do not depend on background refresh or on an internet connection.
