REMINDERS · PLAIN ANSWERS

Is there an app that reminds you to take a break?

Yes. Pause is an iPhone app that reminds you to take a short break during the working days and hours you choose, every 45, 60 or 90 minutes, and then guides the break itself with written stretches, movement or breathing. The reminders are optional, silent by default and stop at the end of your workday.

A reminder that leads somewhere

Most reminder apps stop at the notification and leave you to work out what to do with the break. In Pause the reminder opens on to one large button: start a break. The break is a curated routine or a single movement, with the written steps and the timer built in.

Set up in one screen

Choose working days, start and end times, and an interval. Pause builds the schedule, shows you the next reminder time on Home, and only asks for notification permission once you enable reminders.

What it will not do

Pause will not nag outside your hours, will not bypass a Focus mode, will not set a badge and will not report anything to an employer. If a reminder lands at a bad moment, ignoring it costs nothing.

Common questions

Is there an app that reminds me to move every hour?

Yes. Set Pause to a 60-minute interval and it reminds you once an hour through your working day, starting one hour after your start time.

Does the reminder work on Mac or Android?

No. Pause is an iPhone app for iOS 17 or later. The guides on this website work on any device.

Is the reminder free?

Reminder setup is part of Pause Plus. Your first completed break is free without an account, so you can try a guided break before deciding.
